Patbingsu = Heaven in a bowl
Watch: How To Eat Patbingsu
Ok so I've eating over a half dozen Patbingsu, but it was all for you. Most were great, some were my favorite and one was a big loser. Most of theses were eaten at chains around Sinchon/Hongdae.
Just to mention a few other chains patbingsu can be found at Basket Robbins,
Krispy Kream and believe it or not Burger King, McDonalds and KFC.
1. This dessert is meant to be shared
2. It consists of shaved ice and Pat (sweet red beans) but not always.
3. Then they throw a combination of cheesecake, brownies, popcorn
nuts, berries, grains, chocolate, ice cream sweet potato,
and cheese balls, like Cheetos (Yuk, this one was the loser)
Top was a caramel popcorn patbingsue from Caffe Bene, very good! Bottom was shown in our video, very chocolatie, nice ice texture from Vanhes Coffee (not a chain) caffebene |
Korean Dessert Cafe-Sulbing OMG! This one was my all time favorite - Sweet potato cheesecake bingsu *Sulbing Korean dessert cafe is located across from the park right above the ROSCOCO Grilled Chicken and Tapas Bar, Wausan-ro 21-gil sulbing |
This one looked pretty but I can't sacrifice taste for art. The ice Jenga part texture was to rough almost like eating weak chocolate ice cubes. dechocolatecoffee |
Dalsuda was the first place I tried patbingsu and I had nothing to compare it to but I thought it was pretty good. This place is not a chain and it's located on The main restaurant street Eoulmandang-ro in Hongdae exit 9 or 8 at Hongik University station line 2 Dalsuda |
Thanks Nature Cafe in Hongdae (also not a chain) was the second best patbingsu I had.I really wasn't crazy about cheesecake bingsu but my friends wanted to try it. I'm really happy we did. You can pet sheep here. They are located outside the cafe. Phew! *Thanks Nature Cafe is located of exit 9 line 2 Hongik University station on Hongik-ro which leads straight up to the university. Thanks Nature Cafe Wow this is making me hungry. More reviews to come on a later visit. |
